Coachella Acappella is proud of our groundbreaking Acachella program, an ongoing high school outreach to female students in the Palm Springs Unified School District. The pilot program of Acachella, launched in late 2022 at Palm Springs High School, was an immediate success, with interested girls meeting during their lunch hour to learn four-part acappella harmonies. The young women were guests on our 2023 “Hooked on a Feeling” show, and followed up with a quartet traveling to San Diego to show their skills at the Sweet Adelines Region 21 Summer Seminar in June of 2023. They scored second in their division, and felt the thrill of performing for an enthusiastic Sweet Adelines crowd!
In the 2023-24 school year we grew to a dozen Acachella students, meeting once a week in the morning before classes to learn vocal technique, balance and performance skills. The girls gained confidence performing a set in our 2024 “I’m With the Band” show, and showcasing their talents in their school Spring concert.
We are excitedly looking forward to expanding the Acachella outreach program in the fall of 2024 to the other three high schools in the Palm Springs district, with dreams of expanding Acachella to the two other local districts as our chorus grows.

Thank you Karen and Alan for the amazing experience that I had the last two years. I really enjoyed singing with you guys and growing as an individual. It was very moving to me when we first got together to rehearse and I realized how much I had missed singing. Thank you so much for the opportunity that you guys gave me to improve, and thank you for everything that you guys do!
