This year's show is a musical celebration of friends and friendships. From the title song, "I'll Be There for You" to Carole King's iconic "You've Got a Friend" to the genie's "Friend Like Me" from the movie Aladdin, we've got songs for everyone. Whether you need to laugh or you need to "feel the love" you're going to find music here that will satisfy that need.
And we are excited about a new show format. Think Barbershop harmony meets the Donny and Marie variety show. Yes, there will be lots of terrific acappella singing. But we are very excited to welcome some of our friends from around the valley to bring some laughter and surprises to our stage.
We are thrilled to have as our Host the inimitable Shann Carr. Shann toured the country professionally as a comedian for three decades before settling in Palm Springs. Her humor is egendary, but she is also a woman of great strength and heart, and uses her immense talent to engage with and empower women across the Coachella Valley. We are lucky to count her among our friends and to have her share the stage with us.
And speaking of friends in high places, we also welcome the amazing Francesca Amari to our show. Dee Jae Cox of CVWeekly wrote, "If Francesca Amari is not a household name in your home, then you haven't yet discovered the best music, theater and magic that Palm Springs has to offer." And if you haven't heard her sing, it's time you find out what that means.
We also have the ZANY Katherine Campbell and Cathy Embody in "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun", a ukelele/singing duo that has been delighting audiences across the Coachella Valley with their voices, Be ready for MULTIPLE ukes and a touch of comedy that is sure to lift your spirits.
Our wonderful quartet Party of 4 is always amazing with their own barbershop arrangements and glittering stage presence. Add to that the combined forces of girls from all three high schools in our AcaChella outreach program as well as a set of songs by three of our singers accompanied by our own Rosanne Yu on guitar. And you even get to be part of the show as you sing along with these wonderful women.
